phaidimoi: From the Homeric epithet phaidimos, which is generally translated as “shining” or “glorious,” primarily of Hektor. Someday I’ll actually get around to finishing my paper arguing that the men of whom it is used are not phaidimos in spite of having tried and failed, but at least partly because of it. And it’s one of my favorite words in Homer, as well it should be after a summer spent staring at it.
logoi: So many possibilities, so little time.
